Supporting Gun Control by Companies

bow hunter safety course

We'll be looking at companies that support gun control in this article. The CEOs of Dick's Sporting Goods, L.L. Bean, Kroger Walmart, and a range of other large businesses are all signatories. Despite the differing opinions of the companies, there is one thing they have in common: they are all against gun violence. Yet, their reasons for opposing gun violence are different.

Dick's Sporting Goods

In April, the CEO of Dick's Sporting Goods hired a lobbying firm to advocate for gun control. Dick's was able to lobby Capitol Hill for zero to five thousand dollars, as opposed to the National Rifle Association's millions of dollars. The company pulled out of Capitol Hill after the midterm elections. Business Insider was told by a Dick's spokesperson that the CEO did not feel any progress during his meetings to lawmakers.

Walmart

Walmart is taking steps towards gun control despite the fact that it has been a major supplier of ammunition and handguns for years. The company said it would no more sell handguns, and that certain ammunition types, in response to the Florida school massacre. The company also announced that it would no longer permit customers to bring openly concealed guns into stores. This is in line with similar moves by Wal-Mart, Target, and Wal-Mart.

L.L. Bean

L.L. Bean supports gun control. It is a big sponsor of the Sportsman's Alliance of Maine, a nonprofit organization that promotes hunting, outdoor activities and wildlife conservation. It also supports youth programs. Notable is the non-profit organization's support for gun control. It is one of few businesses that supports the initiative. However, the company has received criticism for its decision. It did not criticize Walmart and Kroger for raising the age limit to buy a firearm.

Kroger

There are many reasons to allow open gun carry in retail stores. Some retailers permit open carry while others do not. Several companies, such as McDonald's and Starbucks, have banned open carry. However, the strongest argument is that it's in the public's best interests to stop these terrible events from happening. Kroger is no stranger to this. It is open to all local firearms laws.

REI

While it might seem incongruous that REI purchases gun control products while supporting gun control seems odd, it is important not to forget that REI does not have any affiliation with the firearm industry. Despite their support for gun control the company encourages racial animus and anti-government feeling. Fear mongering is also promoted by the company. You can consider skipping REI products if your safety and that of your family is important to you. It is unlikely this boycott will lead to gun violence.
